An unforgettable day assisting Meg Strouse
Photography has always been something I’ve admired from afar, but recently I’ve been diving in with more intention—and I couldn’t have asked for a better way to deepen that interest than by assisting my amazing mentor, Meg Strouse, on a shoot at The Greek Theatre in Los Angeles. From the moment we arrived, I knew it was going to be a special experience.
Meg invited me to help out on this project, and I got a front-row seat to the behind-the-scenes magic that goes into capturing beautiful, meaningful images. I was hands-on the entire day—setting up, adjusting lighting, helping with posing, and just making sure everything ran smoothly. We shot a mix of everything: polished menu items and candid lifestyle moments. I’ve admired Meg’s work since we first met back when I was working at Yelp, and our friendship and mentorship have only grown stronger since then. Being by her side on this shoot was not just a learning opportunity—it was genuinely inspiring.
Here’s a little behind-the-scenes look at what went down! I really wanted to capture some of the fun and creativity that filled the day—especially watching Meg in her element. We had such a great crew: Daniela, Kaela, our amazing models (Sophia, Hyolim, Josue, and Trey), and the incredible chefs Mark and Sam. We explored so many cool locations at the theatre, from the signature red seats to a classic old elevator, and even the stage. The energy was high—we had music going, tons of laughs, and such a good vibe all around. I did a little bit of everything: fixed hair and outfits, hyped up the models, cleaned up little details, played with reflectors—whatever was needed. It was one of those shoots that just felt right. And it meant so much to Meg too—she’s been a longtime fan of The Greek Theatre. I’d never been before, so it was extra exciting to be part of something so special for both of us.
It’s honestly so cool to now see Meg’s photos featured on The Greek Theatre’s website—you can check them out here! We’re excited to see where else they’ll show up.
A huge thank you to The Greek Theatre for such an amazing partnership and for welcoming us with open arms. I’m so grateful I got to be a part of this experience, and I’m even more excited about the path I’m on with photography. This was one for the books!
